The flood of immersive work is only just beginning

No Proscenium and Everything Immersive This Week is brought to you by:

Hey folks! A ton of immersive happenings this week. This week on the site: we had interviews and reviews and features coming in from the areas of live action role play, interactive apps, immersive theatre, alternate reality experiences, plus a peek behind the scenes at Third Rail Projects’ piece at Burning Man. (What?!)

NoPro sent out a huge, huge North American newsletter this past week, as well as a huge LA newsletter for Spooky Season and put up a special Spooky Season LA Now Playing page.

By the way, just announced: our own Noah Nelson will be giving a speech at the Denver Immersive Summit in November. Plus, some exciting Immersive Design Summit news!

Check it all out below.

No Proscenium depends upon the generous support of Meow Wolf and people just like you.

IMMERSIVE DESIGN SUMMIT

We are thrilled to announce that the next set of speakers at the Immersive Design Summit in 2019 will be the team behind The Tension Experience, The Lust Experience, and Theatre Macabre. Gracing our stage in San Francisco will be Darren Lynn Bousman, Clint Sears, and Gordon Bijelonic.

In addition to The Experiences, this trio has teamed up to craft an immersive birthday party for Neil Patrick Harris and is working right now with the Russo brothers to launch a new immersive attraction in Las Vegas. Come check them out first at The Immersive Design Summit in San Francisco, this February 22nd and 23rd, 2019!

Applications to attend the Immersive Design Summit go live on October 18 and stay open until November 15. Pricing will be announced on October 18.

Here also is another video from 2018 Immersive Design Summit, where Mikhael Tara Garver spoke to us about Casting the Audience.

We’ll have even more videos from the first Immersive Design Summit on YouTube in the coming weeks. Don’t forget to like and subscribe! You can find us here on YouTube, and stay in touch via Twitter and Instagram for the latest announcements.

ON THE PODCAST THIS WEEK

From NYC: Kathryn Yu talks with Carlo D’Amore, founder of interactive theatre company Live In Theater, about their latest work, the Nordic LARP influenced This Is When We Rest. Carlo is a Drama Desk Nominated director and he and LIT have been re-imagining the mystery genre since 2009.

This year he was part of the Interactive PlayLab’s Deep Dive team in Austin.

Meanwhile, in LA: Noah is on Tylenol with codeine. Uh oh.

Also: be sure to check out this week’s edition of Everything Immersive This Week when it hits the front page. Always a doozy! And follow us on The Gram!

“Christina Wodtke shares a fantastic primer of big ideas from game design, all of which are helpful for people working in immersive. Absolutely jam-packed with good stuff!”

From Michael Anderson, ARGN.com:

“YouTube theorist MatPat (Game Theorists, Film Theorists) ran a merch-driven puzzle trail a few weeks back, and it looks like he’s back for another round. A mini-puzzle round that went live today (9/29) laid out the structure of things to come for prospective solvers.”
