Dandelions
— an immersive installation set at a historic Los Angeles location —
to appear May 9, 11, and 12, 2019

(Los Angeles, CA) — For three days only, Los Angeles will experience a surge in wish production and fulfillment thanks to Dandelions, the latest project from The Art Department (the anonymous artists behind the Griffith Park Teahouse (2015), and Petal Drop LA (2016)). Dandelions will take place May 9, 11, and 12, 2019 at a secret wish-processing facility south of downtown Los Angeles

In this free installation, the public is invited to explore a large, otherworldly factory dedicated to wish production, fulfillment, and distribution. As visitors journey through the Division of Small Things that Float on the Wind, they will encounter an interactive bureaucracy featuring millions of delicate dandelion seeds grown and collected for the project. Ever wonder how dandelion wishes
do, or do not, come true? Look no further.

Please note: Dandelions will require access via two flights of stairs. Because this is a working industrial site, participants must be over 14 years of age. In accordance with factory guidelines, all visitors must wear long pants, long sleeves, and sneakers (no shorts, dresses, heels, open-toe shoes, flip-flops, etc.)

About the artists
The Art Department is an anonymous, LA-based group that creates free,
participatory, and poetic disruptions in unexpected urban sites. For more than a
year they have been tracking bloom times, cultivating dandelions, and seeking out un-manicured street medians, vacant lots, and other dandelion-friendly urban sites. Their most recent project, Night Life LA, featured a similarly unpredictable collaboration with delicate living things.
